About the Dual Award Programme 2022-2026

HELBUS Helsinki School of Business works in partnership with The Finnish Institute for Enterprise Management (Suomen Yrittäjäopisto SYO) to offer international non-EU applicants the possibility to study on-site in a Dual Award Programme. The Programme leads to two qualifications:

(1) an official UK degree of either Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Business and Management, or a MBA, conferred by the University of Northampton (UoN); and

(2) a Further Vocational Qualification in Entrepreneurship award by the Finnish Institute for Enterprise Management (SYO)

The studies are delivered fully in English. Although HELBUS students live and study in Helsinki, Finland, their final degree certificates are awarded by the University of Northampton, in the UK. The vocational Entrepreneurship qualification will be achieved in part through studies at HELBUS, and in part through online activities organised by SYO, related to the learning outcomes of the Entrepreneurship qualification.

The entry requirements for the Dual Award programme are the same as for Finnish/EU applicants. Due to the student residence permit regulations of the Finnish Government, the first year’s tuition fee must be paid in advance before applying for the residence permit. All students at HELBUS pay tuition fees no matter what is their residence permit status. There are no scholarships available for any programme at HELBUS, and the student must commit to paying all fees as specified in their student agreement.

For new applicants

Starting from 20.8.2024 HELBUS is no longer able accept new applications to the Dual Award programme. If you are a non-EU citizen and you have a residence permit for the full duration of your studies (normally two years) for other reasons, such as family ties, you may be able to apply to our BA (Hons) in Business and Management or MBA programme described on this website.

If you need information of entry requirements to our Dual Award programme that is now closed for new applications, please find out more on the page on Admissions process for non-EU applicants.

For admitted students

If you are an admitted student still in the process of applying for residence permit for the September 2024 intake, please note that it takes Migri two to three months to process residence permit applications, starting from the date of your appointment to visit the Finnish mission in your country. Do stay in close contact with the Admissions team who are always happy to help you. To find out more about studying in Finland, explore our New Students page.

If you need information about the tuition fees and payment schedule of the Dual Award programme in September 2024, please read more through this link.

Note: Please do not make any financial commitments before receiving your residence permit decision. HELBUS will only reimburse paid tuition fees if the residence permit decision is negative and you send us evidence of the decision. Note that HELBUS will not be responsible for any financial losses that may result from a negative residence permit decision. HELBUS will not reimburse any costs related to the application for a residence permit.
